Local Nature Reserves are for both people and
wildlife. They are places with wildlife or geological features
that are of special interest locally, which give local people
special opportunities to study and learn about them or simply
enjoy and have contact with nature. |

contact with wildlife, especially for those without a garden at home. |

Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) |

|
SACs are areas which have been given special protection under the European Union's Habitats Directive. They provide increased protection to a variety of wild animals, plants and habitats and are a vital part of global efforts to conserve the world's biodiversity.
England's SACs include areas which cover marine as well as terrestrial areas. |

Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) represent
our best sites for wildlife and geology. Well over half, by
area, are internationally important and many play an important
part in local culture and economies or provide wonderful opportunities
for people to enjoy wildlife and landscape. |
